I know it’s not that dangerous, but there’s no way in hell you could pay me enough to manually start a jet engine while I’m standing right next to it with my head on it lol
This is the manual operation of start valve which regulates air from APU to the Air turbine starter motor. Although this start Valve is electrically operated via the solenoid ( latch and hold mechanism) attached to the DEU in electronics compartment.
You can start it by spinning the blades to give the engine air, but you’re gonna need to spin it dangerously fast which no human can do and any person who does that will get sucked in.
@@pap401 you think pilots or ground crew care about this on a 3rd world airline? I'm A&P mechanic and this aircraft would not leave the ground if under my supervision.
@@spaghetti9845 Are you certified on the Boeing 737 / CFM56, If so I suggest you get further training on ATA chapter 72, for info the video was taken during a training exercise and all those present, including the camera operator are Licenced Aircraft Engineers & the training instructor was representing Boeing.
You can't start a jet engine with a socket wrench. It takes a ton of compressed air which usually comes from the APU. The guy was just opening a suck valve. Without the massive amount of power from the compressed air, turning the valve doesn't start anything.
Great video! Would it be alright if I included this clip in my video? Full credit will, of course, be given. Thank you.
Crack on
@pap401 Thank you very much, I really appreciate it.
How does he disconnect the headset now?
Let me out, let me ouuuuuuuuut
hdhsjcggdhdhdgdg get out
It’s hard to believe that jet engines are not electric started but, rather air started most of the time.
Propeller is turning ccw but hub is inverse. Why?
I was expecting to see a giant elastic band..
2:00 is that the wagon wheel effect or was the fan spinning the wrong way in the wind and then changed direction once the engine was started
It started from 2:04
That guy doesn’t have to stand like that…first time I guess
Imagine the man is front or betwen the engine ☠️☻️
I don’t like the design of the D shape faring. It looks odd
Sounds just like the Roadrunner at 01:55 when he accelerates👌
wow nicee
I remember the first time I started a 737 engine manually and I was scared shit less. People don’t know how loud an aircraft engine is
I forgot how much noise a wind milling CFM56-3 made with the midspan shrouds clacking.
when the tv remote runs out of batteries
some one should do a spoof and add a crank handle and crank like mad, maybe even a couple of shots of starting iether for good measure
The best. :)
I would love to study one these engines up close but that’s not going to happen

No way he's going to turn it fast enough to start it with that wrench
Why did they manual start that plane
Once you get it started walk around front
Why was he so close to the engine
ah yes, manually starting the plane that kills hundreds

My PS4 must be powered by one of these.
I love to see the white spiral turning ...
how is he gonna disconnect the headset now?

Awesome video man. U still work on these things?
The video could have started at 2 minutes
Probably right - I will delete the video from you tube
Is that the 500 model?
🍀🍀😘🔥🥺🖤😭🕊🩸🤣
yabba dabba doooo
Is there any risk with manual start?
To get sucked into the engine or sent flying and burned by the jet blast.
That hatch should be placed somewhere else because it’s ahead of the red line danger zone
So this is how Southwest starts their planes.
Really a lot of work
It's a pilot program.
Do it in flight
Yes, but has to wear a safety harness
A mic wind filter would be appreciated
Where's the starting handle ?

Insert handle and crank really fast
this engine is in bad need or service. the blades can be heard scraping the cowling.
Don't be so ridiculous, it would not have been started if that was the case.

Everybody Gangsta until the plane starts rolling

How does he walk away from the engine without being sucked in?
